Holmesdale 1-4 Fisher FC
Saturday 12 Sept 2015
Southern Counties East League
Fisher wracked up their second league win of the season, beating Holmesdale 4-1 at Oakley Road.
It took just fifteen minutes for the visitors get off the mark with Quinten Conteh finding, tucking his shot under the keepers outstretched arm.
Six minutes later a great forward move saw Reion McFarlane dragged over, and as he and the offending defender got tangled on the edge of the box, Fisher took advantage of the confusion, with Tyrell McLeod-Bentley firing home to double Fisher’s tally.
At the back a solid backline held well to limit Holmesdale to a couple of decent chances, while a confident Denzil Kobia was able to deal with whatever went his way.
Fisher had several chances to add to their lead before the break, the best chance falling to Dave Waters who fired a powerful header against the bar after a corner.
After the break Fisher continued to dominate the game and added a third through Max Rothwell after good approach play and a well placed pass from Conteh seven minutes after the break. During the build up Shelton Gooden picked up an injury which saw him replaced by Alfie Roche.
Roche had an instant impact and picked up where Gooden left off, causing chaos with well timed runs and technical brilliance down the left wing. The Fish continued to create chances and could have gone on to demolish a sluggish Holmesdale back line. Travis Gregory fired over the bar before firing home to put his side 4-0 up with around 22 minutes of the game remaining.
Taylor Thomas showed good skill when he replaced McLeod-Bentley and got in some dangerous looking crosses, but the Fish were unable to increase their lead, despite the late introduction of Tyrone Guthrie.
With the vocal travelling support in high spirits, the shine was taken off of the afternoon as Dereece Thompson found a way past Kobia to pull one back for the Dalers a few minutes before full time.
The win moves Fisher in to 12th place with 7 points.
