Fisher FC are delighted to announce that this weekend’s home friendly against Farnborough OBG will be played at St. Paul’s Stadium, bringing football back to the area for the first time since the club went into exile 12 years ago.

The club have been working hard over the summer, in conjunction with Southwark Council and the Southern Counties East Football League, to ensure that the new stadium passes all necessary inspections and ground grading tests ahead of the kick off of the new season. Over the next two weeks Fisher will host two pre-season friendlies as test events at St. Paul’s, before competitive football returns to Rotherhithe on Saturday 13 August with the first game of the new season against Rochester United.

This Saturday’s game against Farnborough OBG of the Kent County Premier League will be a chance for club officials to trial operations and facilities at the new stadium, and as is normal for the opening of any new football ground, will be subject to a restricted attendance.

Supporters are advised that there will be very limited catering facilities in place for the game against Farnborough OBG this weekend, with a broader offer in place for the second home friendly on Saturday 6 August against Otford United.

The Fisher Club Shop will be open for business at both friendlies, alongside the chance to sign up as a Member and become a part-owner of the club for just £10. Fisher FC is owned and run by the Fisher Supporters’ Trust, operating as a democratic, not-for-profit organisation, run for the good of the community. We rely on our members to keep the club running and to ensure that we can continue our success on and off the pitch.

Supporters will also be able to pick up Season Tickets for the upcoming season, priced at just £80 for Members – the equivalent of getting 5 free matches when compared with buying for the 18 league games on a matchday.

Chairman Ben Westmancott said, “This is a huge step forward for Fisher FC, with football, finally being played back in Rotherhithe. A lot of hard work has been put in to reach this stage and everyone connected with the club is looking forward to celebrating reaching our goal of getting Fisher back home. These friendlies will be a great warm up not just for the First Team, but also for our matchday team – we’ll need to get our turnstile sharpness back!”
